Shaving is the most satisfying feeling in the world. Wearing that small skirt or dress that compliments your legs is just amazing. It seems so easy to just shave it off – apply some shaving cream, get your razor ready and just shave. The bad thing about shaving is the time it takes! AND when you are in a hurry you tend to shave too quickly, causing cuts and hurting your skin which may be quite uncomfortable. YIP not that easy. The worst feeling is when you miss a spot! I always feel disappointed in myself!
This is a basic step that needs to be implemented. Let’s just recap we are about to put a sharp blade to our skin and shave everything off that is on top of it! Make sure you clean your skin with soap or a body wash. This will prevent any bacteria from entering an open wound – the other thing you can try to help your razor to glide smoothly is to stand under hot water – this will allow your hair cuticles to open up which will help to obtain a smoother surface.
Razors can get pricy and replacing the blades every month can leave a dent in your pocket. I must admit I am one of those people who easily uses one of my brothers’ razors when I am in need. I didn’t know it was a bad thing until I felt the difference. Men and women’s hair are different in size, texture and even thickness and therefore a woman’s razor is a different design compared to a man’s razor. Make sure that next time you buy the correct razor to eliminate hurting yourself.
I plead guilty to this mistake. Let’s face it there are a lot of people who just forget to buy shaving cream – I was one of those people. Luckily, I shook off that bad habit, and realised it was for the best. There is a reason that shaving gels exist. Their main goal is to protect our skin against any irritation that is caused by shaving. Shaving gel even has moisturizing properties that helps smoothen your legs – do not go over to shaving with soap as it will cause your skin to become irritated.
What we mean by this is literally pressing too hard on your razor while shaving your legs. Please do not think the harder you press down the smoother the surface will be. The truth is pressing too hard on your razor can cause severe pain and irritate your skin. When you feel the need to put some pressure on the blade it is a sign that the razor blade is out of date and that a new one is needed.
I did not think it mattered if you followed a routine but apparently it does. It is not that easy – after shaving it is very important to wash the shaved surface again to remove all the dead skin and bacteria. Then apply some body butter or body lotion on your legs – this will keep your legs smooth and hydrated.
BONUS: It will even keep any sort of irritation away!
