What is a facial toner? If you are like me facial toners don’t even appear in your vocabulary. A toner is a liquid that’s meant to remove all the makeup, dirt and oil after cleansing. So, in short cleansing doesn’t remove all the filth so that is where toner comes in and helps us. A toner also helps to fight blemishes and heal small scars.
There are a lot of benefits of using a toner.

1. They shrink pores!

This is an awesome benefit! If you struggle with large pores a toner may help. Applying a small amount of toner with a cotton ball or pad and gently wiping your face with it will remove the oil and give the appearance of smaller pores!

2. Serves as a layer of protection

WOW! This is awesome! As we already discussed, toners can help to shrink pores and tighten cell gaps after cleansing. This helps to reduce the penetration of impurities and environmental contaminants. It can even help to protect your skin and remove chlorine and minerals found in tap water.

3. Restoring of skin’s Ph balance.

Did you know our skin is a natural acidic with a Ph balance between 5 – 6 on a scale from 0 – 14. The sad part is that the balance can get out of whack after cleansing your skin. This is because of the alkaline nature of soap. When this happens, your skin needs to work even harder to restore it to its natural levels – and this is where toners save us. A toner helps your skin by restoring its Ph balance faster after cleansing.

4. Ingrown hairs.

I hate ingrown hairs! They are the worst; they are painful and the worst part is it makes a red spot! Red spots are just a no, no for me! Toner that contains glycolic acid or another alpha hydroxy acid can help to prevent ingrown hair.

5. Acts like a moisturizer.

With some toners this helps! Toners do have moisturizing properties and can serve as a moisturizer – with other toners it would be better to apply a moisturizer as well.
