If you struggle with cracked heels, do not worry as all you need is a little heel balm. There are many causes for cracked heels. Take a look at your daily routine, try identifying which factor is affecting you and how to overcome it.

1 – Lacking Moisturizer:

This is the most common cause of cracked heels. The skin underneath your feet is often dry. Why? The skin around your heels has a small number of sweat glances. If you have dry skin, cracked heels are more likely to appear.

2 – Hygiene:

If you don’t keep your feet clean daily this can be a further cause of cracked heels.

3 – Aging skin:

Skin tends to lose its elasticity over time and as such cracks can have a higher incidence as you become older.

4 – Bad shoes:

If your shoes don’t fit properly it can contribute to cracked heels.

What are cracked heels?

Cracked heels are when the skin around your heels split apart. A mixture of dryness and pressure leads to cracked skin as the skin is incapable to keep moisture levels up, your skin becomes fragile, leading to tears.

How to restore cracked heels:

Many remedies can be used for fixing cracked heels.

1 – Use a heel balm:

This is the first step to repairing your cracked heels. Heel balm contains a variety of ingredients to help soften, moisturize and heal your skin. Wear your heel balm daily until the problem is resolved.

2 – Soak and exfoliate your feet

As we discussed earlier cracked heels are caused by dryness and when pressure is applied the skin around your heels can tear. Soaking your feet can help prevent this sort of problem.

For a foot soak:

  1. Keep feet in lukewarm soapy water for about 20 min.

  2. Use a loofah or foot scrubber to remove any hard, thick skin.

  3. Gently pat your feet dry.

  4. Apply heel balm to the problem area.

  5. Put a sock on to avoid spreading any grease around.

How we can help:

Our heel balm contains an ingredient called urea. Urea – also known as carbamide- containing cream – is used as a medication, this is applied to the skin to treat dryness. This is excellent in curing or healing cracked heels, corns and calluses. The vitamin E in the heel balm reduces the appearance of scars and helps to moisturize the heel. Although the main role of vitamin E in creams is an antioxidant, it could help soften the skin as well. Then for the Lactic Acid. Lactic Acid is an alpha hydroxy acid, naturally produced in the process of bacterial fermentation. As for the Glycerine in the heel balm, this ingredient helps in smoothing the heel, leaving your feet moisturized and protected.
